Schools parade new faces in CESAFI hoop

As the fifth edition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Incorporated opens this Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum, basketball loving Cebuanos will witness a parade of new faces and come-backing players in the line-up of the different collegiate competing teams.

In the premier men's division, most of the six squads will have half of its line-up composed of new talents including the defending champion, University of the Visayas.

Composing the powerhouse UV squad are Mark Jonas Ababon, Morsie Akad, Eduardo Arda, Rino Berami, Vergel Abelong, Khim Calo, Jaysar Esprerat, Von Harry Lañete, Eulogio Lasala, Jr., Ariel Mepaña, Jayford Rodriguez, Jaylord Santos, Norman Sevilla and Jaymar Tacaldo.

UV's archival, University of San Jose-Recoletos almost has the same number of carry-overs from last year's line-up and new-comers in Herbert Arellano, Ryan Arpay, Jaime Buena, Jerry Carilla, Lyndon Gudez, Bobby Abraham Hatague, Luther Luke Justiani, Raymund Maconocido, Ranulfo Malinao, Randay Pogoy, Armand May Ponce, Gilbert Real and Jessmar Villahermosa.

And while UV and USJ-R has more carry-overs than new ones, the unpredictable University of Southern Philippines (USP) will be parading a line-up composed mostly of newcomers along with the University of San Carlos and the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT).

USP's line-up has Jason Bartolabac, Randy Colonia, Marlon Demape, Arletroy Mercader, Vincent Glenn Pendang, Alfred Belande, Gilbert Gallarde, Jerry Geraldez, Clefort Maguate, Ellison Rivera, Barnett Rogado, Dominic Jay Ceniza, Daryll Francis Cumba and Elvis Labares.

USC, on the other hand, will have James Ryan Blanes, Neswen Leigh Cabajar, Gene Noel Gallarde, Johmel Igao, Paul Norman Joven, Arlow Jueves, Enrico John Llanto, Ignatius Mark Loyola, Ryan Carlo Padayao, Nino Ramirez, Kailash Sharma, Ahmann James Tagalog, Ahmann Paul Tagalog, and Vernini Tangarorang.

UC has Reymund Yncierto, Kenneth Kernn Sesante, Allain Abellanosa, Harlow Chad Villanil, Salvador Cadayong, Jared Kane Abatayo, Orvelle Saludsod, Jonathan Canceran, Franco Angelo Cipriano, Michael John Estenzo, Rendylle Lou Quirino, Miguelito Ducay, Aldeth Batobalonosand Ata Ayuk.

CIT will have Arnel Mantalaba, Isidore Adlawan, Ramil and Emilio Aninon, June Ryan Regis, Roche Jay Ragosta Reyes, Jerry Lumongsod, Jessie Bustos, Sherwin Abobo, Marvin Abapo, Bryan Belicario, Ramel Guevara, Karl Ocanada, and Ronel Villarba.

The distaff side will have four competing squads while the secondary level will have seven with only Don Bosco Technology Center having no collegiate team.
