Garcia grabs CCC July monthly medal

- Nimrod NL Quiñones -
Ramontito Garcia wielded his golf clubs like magic wands as he fired a gross six-under-par 66 strokes and finished with a net 64 to bag the class A title of the Cebu Country Club July monthly medal over the weekend in a fashion that fit for a man, who has won the club championship the most times.

The monthly event also gave the La Salle team a reason to work harder on their game in preparation for the annual Ateneo-La Salle Golf Tournament in September as several Ateneans led by their alumni chapter president Jack Huang, reaped awards.

Garcia, who won the Cebu Country Club championship six times, blew past the rest of the field winning by a margin of five strokes.

Runner-up honors for class A went to Edito 'Nonoy' Tirol, who scored a gross 75 and had a net 69. He won the honor after edging Eddie Ong in the countback.

Huang, ruled class B with a net score of 64 strokes also off a gross score of 81. Runner-up honors went to his fellow Atenean, Mario King with a net score of 66 strokes off a gross 82.

Ang Chiong topped class C of the tournament with a net score of also 64 strokes off his gross of 86. Lawyer Jose Palma, Jr., another Atenean, was the runner-up for the class with a net 68 off a gross of 90.

Lawyer Ernesto Limkakeng joined the group of Ateneans to fire the warning salvo to their counterparts from La Salle, topping class D with a net score of 67. Claro Cinco was the runner-up for the class with his net 68.

The seniors' division title went to Faustino Froilan with a net score of 67 while Max Tan was runner-up with a net 68.

Junior golf standout Charles Tiu won the guest division with a net score of 74 off a gross 79. Mar Quintia, who has a handicap of one stroke, finished as runner-up with his net score of 75.
