CBM-UC tops Sandugo age-group swim tourney

The Cebu Blue Marlins-University of Cebu (CBM-UC) swimming team made another rousing finish as it captured the over-all championship trophy in the 1st Sandugo Invitational Age Group Swimming competition in Tagbilaran City, Bohol over the weekend.

Mentored by Lando Alvarez, the CBM-UC team ended its campaign with 742 points to rule the event, which is participated by eight swimming teams from all over the Central Visayas region.

The Bohol Dolphins clinched the first runner-up honors with 588 points and the Silliman University Swimming Team wound up third with 499 points.

Rounding up the teams and the corresponding points earned are Talisay City Swimming Team with 321 points, Negros Blue Dolphins with 285, University of San Carlos with 113, Funsport Cebu with 30 and Talisay City Swimming and Lifesaving with 23.

The CBM-UC team was anchored by three tankers, who were picked Most Outstanding Swimmers in their respective age brackets.

They are Anthony Navarro, who topped in the 6 and under division, Jefrrey Yana of UC in the 13-14 years old for boys and Dianne Cañeda of UC in the 15-17 years old.

The other Most Outstanding Swimmers are Jamaica Siquator of NBDST (6-Under), Eric Quinquito of SUST and Rachelle Budlayan of Bohol Dolphins (7-8 years old), Jimbou Jarina of TCST and Sheena Laduna of SUST (9-10 years old), Jay Kee Teves of Bohol Dolphins and Queenie Endres of SUST (11-12 years old), Mary Venice Aseniero of Bohol Dolphins (13-14 years old) and Earl Jayson Bilangdal of NBDST (15-17 years old).

The campaign of the CBM-UC is under the Swim Against Drug program of PHILOSAP headed by Oscar Mabilog.
