Micor is new VISCOM commander

CEBU, Philippines — Philippine Air Force (PAF) Maj. Gen. Moises Micor formally took over as commander of the Visayas Command (VISCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) during a change of command ceremony yesterday at Camp Lapulapu in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

The ceremony was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, PA, and marked the formal transfer of authority and responsibility for leading VISCOM from Maj. Gen. Peter Burgonio, PA, to Micor.

Micor succeeded Burgonio, who served as acting commander of VISCOM while concurrently performing his duties as commander of Joint Task Force STORM and the Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division.

During Burgonio’s tenure, VISCOM maintained its operational readiness while continuing efforts to safeguard communities and preserve the peace and development gains across the Visayas.

The leadership transition comes with VISCOM continuing its mission of supporting security and maintaining peace across the region.

Micor is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maalab” Class of 1993 and has held several senior command assignments in the PAF.

Before assuming command of VISCOM, Micor served as commander of the Air Mobility Command (AMC).

He previously served as wing commander of the Tactical Operations Wing Central (TOWCEN) and the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing.

His previous assignment at TOWCEN involved leading a unit that provides air operations support to VISCOM and its joint task forces.

In September 2026, while serving as AMC commander, Micor joined PAF chief Lt. Gen. Arthur Cordura in the formal acceptance of two newly-acquired Bell 412EPX utility helicopters at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

With Micor assuming the post, the command is expected to build on the foundations established under the previous leadership while sustaining its ongoing mission and operations in the Visayas. (CEBU NEWS)
