DTI offers learning caravan for local entrepreneurs

CEBU, Philippines — Local entrepreneurs are being encouraged by the Cebu City Government to take advantage of the learning opportunities on financial literacy, among others, initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Financing Caravan set at the City Hall’s Social Hall today, May 15, 2026.

“Nalipay ko nga ipaambit sa tanan nga ang Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) magdala sa ilang Financing Caravan: Negosyo Restart and Financing Initiative dinhi mismo sa Cebu City. Gina-awhag nako ang atong local entrepreneurs ug MSMEs nga pahimuskan kini nga oportunidad,” Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival announces on his page.

The mayor stressed that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Cebu City’s economy, and initiatives like the caravan are crucial in helping them recover, sustain, and expand.

“Ang atong MSMEs mao ang backbone sa ekonomiya sa Cebu City. Mao nga importante kaayo ang mga inisyatiba sama niini,” he added.

Archival explained that the caravan will allow business owners to learn about financial literacy, connect with lending institutions, understand available loan programs, and receive guidance on application requirements, all in one venue.

He emphasized that proper information and support can make a difference for small businesses struggling to recover.

“Usahay, ang sakto nga impormasyon ug suporta mao gyud ang makatabang aron makabarog pag-usab ang usa ka negosyo ug mas motubo pa,” Archival said.

The Financing Caravan is part of DTI’s nationwide initiative to empower MSMEs by providing direct access to financing opportunities and business development support.
