Cebu Alliance for Duterte endorses two Senate bets
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Alliance for Duterte (CAD) 2028 held its official launching and confirmed its endorsement of two potential senatorial candidates on Friday, March 13, at a hotel in Cebu City.
The alliance endorsed lawyer and former commissioner of the Commission on Elections, Atty. Rowena Guanzon, and pediatrician Dr. Richard Mata for the Senate in the 2028 national elections.
At least 120 selected leaders from Duterte Diehard Supporters (DDS)-aligned organizations across the Visayas and Mindanao attended the event, where participating groups pledged unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment to the alliance.
Presiding Chair of CAD 2028, Dr. Winley S. Dela Fuente, said the gathering was meant to reaffirm the group’s support for leadership values associated with former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Dela Fuente also recognized the leadership of Vice President Sara Duterte, urging members and supporters to remain active in advancing the group’s initiatives.
He added that Cebu has long been home to strong and patriotic people, saying the alliance continues to grow through the dedication of volunteers, community leaders, and ordinary citizens.
During the event, Guanzon confirmed she would accept the endorsement of Duterte supporters for a possible Senate run in the 2028 national elections.
“Dawaton nako oy with all my heart, 15 years na walay Cebuano na senador, we will reclaim our seat in the senate,” said Guanzon.
Meanwhile, Mata emphasized the importance of strengthening the country’s healthcare system, advocating for policies that would improve the delivery of health services and ensure better access to medical care for Filipinos.
CAD 2028 envisions a united Visayas taking an active role in national development by supporting strong and principled leadership that respects the rule of law, empowers communities, safeguards national interests, and promotes inclusive growth for Filipinos in the years leading to 2028. (CEBU NEWS)
