Liloan Golf grabs historic crown at 77th PAL Interclub
CEBU, Philippines — Liloan Golf Club by Duros Land went through some tension-filled moments before securing the Sportswriters Division crown with a total of 322 points (rounds of 78, 85, 87, and 72) during the 77th Philippine Airlines (PAL) Interclub at the Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City recently.
It marks the first time that Liloan Golf bagged a championship trophy in PAL Interclub’s 77-year history.
Before savoring the sweet nectar of success, Liloan Golf backed by Duros Group and 7Core Communications, Inc. had to toil hard at crunch time after seeing their huge advantage evaporate.
Liloan Golf built a massive 24-stroke lead after three rounds of action behind the steady hands of Cloyd Dedicatoria and Anthony Milan who fired 26 points each.
But Liloan Golf was ahead by only one stroke in the last round, setting the stage for a nerve-racking finale against the Davao City Golf Club.
The coveted title boils down to the final pairing pitting Liloan’s Eugene Andales against Davao City’s Marko Fuentes.
In a thrilling battle of wills, Andales carded a 22 to edge Fuentes and seal Liloan Golf’s golden triumph.
Led by team captain Cesar Ian Mantuhac, the other members of Liloan Golf are Carlo Barte, Hilario Mantujac III, Max Dagdagan, Henry Tan, Keanu Pamaos, and Alfie Gabihan.
