Free veterinary care for pets of CH workers

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government will provide free veterinary services for pets owned by City Hall employees on Monday, February 23, as part of the city’s Charter Day celebration.

The event, dubbed “Pet Day on Charter Day,” will be held at the Plaza Sugbo grounds from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Services to be offered include free anti-rabies vaccinations, pet consultations, and a pet adoption display. The initiative underscores the city’s continuing efforts to promote responsible pet ownership and strengthen animal welfare programs.

By dedicating the activity to the pets of government personnel, the administration highlights its view that public service extends beyond the workplace and includes fostering safe and healthy environments at home and in the community.

The activity forms part of the broader Charter Day celebration, which commemorates Cebu City’s institutional journey since its establishment in 1937.

Through the undertaking, the city government aims to blend civic pride with compassion for animals, reminding employees that care and responsibility go hand in hand with public service.

City Hall workers are encouraged to take part in the program, which highlights both the city’s heritage and its evolving commitment to humane and community-centered governance. —
