Bohol ASEAN meetings cap off peacefully—PRO-7

CEBU, Philippines — The ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Deputies’ Meeting Working Group and Related Meetings, held in Panglao, Bohol from February 9 to 13, concluded peacefully and successfully, with no major untoward incidents recorded.

This is according to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7, which implemented comprehensive security coverage during the five-day high-level international gathering that brought together ASEAN finance officials, central bank deputies, delegates, and partners for a series of critical discussions and engagements.

From the arrival of delegates until the last day of the final meeting session, no major incidents were recorded, following the active monitoring of the Site Task Group Central Visayas.

The security operations began with intensive planning, followed by intelligence monitoring, inter-agency coordination, and sustained operational deployment.

Additionally, the task group ensured a safe, orderly, and secure environment throughout the duration of the international event.

According to PRO-7, thousands of law enforcement personnel were positioned across key areas in the town of Panglao and other strategic locations in the Province of Bohol, maximizing the workforce for overall security.

Specifically, a sufficient number of police officers were detailed at the venues, billeting areas, entry and exit points, major thoroughfares, coastal zones, and airspace corridors.

Apart from the police workforce, several land, sea, and air security assets and resources were also mobilized. These included patrol vehicles, maritime units, air support, K9 teams, intelligence operatives, and specialized response forces.

Additionally, police assistance desks and quick reaction teams were strategically deployed to address any potential contingencies.

To further uphold the safety and security of the international delegates and participants, a strong multi-agency effort was carried out in collaboration with national government agencies, local government units, emergency responders, and force multipliers.

Overwhelmed by the success of the ASEAN Finance Meetings, PRO-7 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan commended the men and women of the regional police force for their collective efforts.

“All those who compose the Site Task Group Central Visayas, I admire your passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment in ensuring the ASEAN Finance Meetings a success in the Province of Bohol. Congratulations,” Maranan said in a statement.

The regional director also extended his gratitude to the local government units (LGUs) in Bohol Province for their support and cooperation.

“We thank the Bohol community and our LGU partners for working hand in hand with us in hosting this important international gathering and for helping ensure the safety and security of all ASEAN delegates and participants,” he added.
