21 essential medicines, under YAKAP, available
CEBU, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has assured the public that the 21 essential medicines covered under its Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) remain available this year in YAKAP-accredited primary care facilities nationwide.
PhilHealth president and chief executive officer Edwin M. Mercado said members can continue to access the medicines through their chosen YAKAP clinics as the agency strengthens the benefits under the YAKAP and GAMOT programs.
“Makakaasa po ang lahat ng Pilipino na patuloy silang makakakuha nitong 21 na mga gamot sa kanilang napiling YAKAP Clinic, habang mas lalo naming pinagbubuti ang mga benepisyo ng PhilHealth YAKAP at GAMOT,” Mercado said in a statement.
The list of essential medicines include Amoxicillin, Co-amoxiclav, Cotrimoxazole, Nitrofurantoin, Ciprofloxacin, Clarithromycin, Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS), Prednisone, Salbutamol, Fluticasone with Salmeterol, Paracetamol, Gliclazide, Metformin, Simvastatin, Enalapril, Metoprolol, Amlodipine, Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan, Aspirin, and Chlorphenamine.
PhilHealth said members enrolled in YAKAP-accredited clinics may continuously avail themselves of these medicines to ensure timely treatment and uninterrupted primary care services.
The state insurer also reminded its partner YAKAP providers to maintain adequate stocks of the covered medicines and comply with service standards under the program.
“Patuloy po ang aming pagsisikap na pagbutihin pa ang paghahatid ng aming serbisyo sa pamamagitan ng patuloy na pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga YAKAP providers upang patuloy pang magkaroon ng kapanatagan ang lahat ng Pilipinong umaasa sa PhilHealth,” Mercado added.
YAKAP, which literally means “embrace,” reflects PhilHealth’s renewed commitment to preventive, accessible, and people-centered healthcare services for all Filipinos. — (FREEMAN)
