CCPO gets new vehicles, eqpt to boost capability

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has acquired new vehicles and information technology equipment to enhance its operational capability, mobility, and technological readiness.
The newly-acquired assets include 15 police vehicles—11 patrol cars and four motorcycle units—which were distributed to Police Stations 1 to 11. Police Stations 12 and 13 were excluded from the distribution as they were only established in mid-2025.
Also turned over were 14 desktop computers, one laptop, and 43 spare tires to further support police operations.
The turnover ceremony was led by Police Colonel George Ylanan, officer-in-charge of the CCPO, and was attended by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan.
In his welcome remarks, Ylanan said the new vehicles and equipment will significantly improve police mobility, response time, visibility, and communication, enabling personnel to respond more quickly and effectively to the needs of the community.
“These resources empower us to intensify patrol operations, manage incidents with greater efficiency, and sustain peace and order throughout the city,” Ylanan said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Philippine National Police and PRO-7 for providing the assets.
Mayor Archival underscored the importance of the new equipment in maintaining peace and order, noting that their arrival is timely as the city hosts major events such as the Sinulog festivities and the ASEAN Summit.
“Nalipay kaayo ko nga naabot ni unya timing kaayo nga naa ta sa Sinulog ug sa ASEAN Summit. Aside from that, magamit gyud nato as we go forward for the years to come,” Archival said in an interview.
The mayor also urged CCPO officials to take good care of the newly issued assets to ensure their long-term use.
“Please, take good care of these equipment. We need these,” he said.
Archival further committed to pursuing additional initiatives through the city government to provide more patrol cars and information and communications technology (ICT) equipment, particularly for the city’s two newest police stations.
Meanwhile, Maranan said the vehicles and equipment were sourced from the PNP National Headquarters through his efforts since assuming office as regional director in January last year.
He added that the turnover fulfills his commitment to strengthen police forces across Central Visayas, including Cebu City, one of the region’s major urban centers.
“Ang resources na ito is part of my commitment. When I assumed as the regional director, sabi ko I will beef up the resources of the police force here in Central Visayas,” Maranan said.
Maranan also assured that additional mobility and ICT resources will be provided to other areas and police offices as part of PRO-7’s continuing initiatives. — (FREEMAN)
