CSBT operations to be diverted to SRP over Sinulog weekend
CEBU, Philippines — The operations of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) will be temporarily diverted to the South Road Properties (SRP) this Saturday and Sunday to pave the way for the final activities of Sinulog week, both religious and cultural.
CSBT Administrator Ahmed Cuizon, in an interview yesterday, said that the relocation of their operations is meant to accommodate traffic disruptions caused by the annual Sto. Niño de Cebu solemn procession and Sinulog Street dancing.
During the two-day temporary relocation, the CSBT will serve as a parking area for vehicles of emergency responders, law enforcers, and Sinulog working committee members.
Cuizon said that passengers arriving from the south and heading to Cebu City will be dropped off at a designated point at the Il Corso Terminal in the SRP.
From there, he said, modern jeepneys will transport passengers at regular fares to five key destinations: the Cebu North Bus Terminal, Plaza Independencia, Katipunan Street in front of Bible Baptist Church, Kinasang-an via F. Vestil Street, and Cordova via the CCLEX.
Meanwhile, southbound passengers from Cebu City are advised to proceed to Katipunan Street, where modern jeepneys will take them at regular fares from the Bible Baptist area to the temporary bus terminal at El Pardo Road in the SRP.
Cuizon said that the temporary terminal will feature 24 bus loading stations with ticketing counters, traffic enforcers, and peacekeeping personnel. Facilities will include tents, seating areas, portalets, and sufficient lighting to ensure passenger comfort and safety.
Additionally, V-Hire units bound for Simala, Moalboal, Toledo, and Pinamungajan will operate from the newly opened V-Hire Terminal near the Taboan Market Bridge, at the end of Sanciangco Street beside the Barangay Hall of Pahina Central, Cebu City. Regular fares will also apply.
“Regular bus operations at CSBT are expected to resume early morning on Monday, January 19, 2026,” Cuizon said.
Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays during the festival weekend. — /IHM (FREEMAN)
