UCMed launches Kalusugan Center

CEBU, Philippines — The University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) is enhancing its commitment to accessible healthcare with the Kalusugan Center, aiming to transform it into a comprehensive one-stop-shop for PhilHealth members.

Since its recent launch, the center has already made waves as the first Level 3 apex private hospital in Cebu to offer cancer screenings under PhilHealth s Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP).

The Kalusugan Center provides a range of free medical services, including consultations, diagnostic tests, etc.

UCMed already offers cancer screenings for breast, colon, liver, and lung cancers, significantly boosting early detection efforts.

"Our vision for the Kalusugan Center is to create a seamless healthcare experience for every PhilHealth member," said Dr. Armando Tan, UCMed s medical director.

"We aim to integrate a wide array of services, making it easier for patients to access the care they need in one convenient location," he added.

In line with this vision, UCMed is preparing to incorporate PhilHealth's Gamot para sa may Karamdaman at Oras na Makapagpagamot (GAMOT) program into the Kalusugan Center.

GAMOT is PhilHealth's outpatient drug benefit package.

This provides coverage for essential medicines prescribed during outpatient consultations, ensuring that patients have access to the medications they need to manage their health conditions effectively.

With the integration of GAMOT, the Kalusugan Center will offer a more complete suite of services, from consultations and screenings to diagnostic tests and medication provision.

At the moment though, PhilHealth members and their families can access consultations, basic laboratory tests such as CBC, fasting blood sugar, lipid profile, and creatinine, as well as imaging services like X-rays.

UCMed encourages PhilHealth members to register and select UCMed as their YAKAP provider to maximize the program s benefits.

The Kalusugan Center also assists non-members with PhilHealth registration. For inquiries, contact 517-0888, local 1591 and 1592, or visit UCMed s official Facebook page.  — /BRP (FREEMAN)
