CCLEX now has weighing station
CEBU, Philippines — A smarter traffic management system in Cebu City is being anticipated following the completion of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway’s (CCLEX) weighbridge station.
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival joined officials of the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC) led by CCLEC president and general manager Allan Alfon for the blessing of the new CCLEX Weighbridge Station along the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) the other day.
Archival welcomed the project as “another milestone” for Cebu, emphasizing how the weighbridge can keep traffic flowing and protect critical infrastructure.
“It is a pleasure and an honor to be here today for this important event—another milestone for our city,” he said, “thank you to CCLEX for giving us the opportunity to improve traffic management. I hope this collaboration continues so we can make even greater progress in keeping our roads safe and efficient.”
Alfon explained that the weighbridge is a joint undertaking of CCLEC and the Cebu City Government, designed to prevent congestion and protect the viaduct and CCLEX from damage caused by overloaded trucks.
“This partnership is a concrete contribution to better traffic management along the CSCR… The facility will help us monitor heavy vehicles and immediately redirect those found to be overloaded,” Alfon said.
Archival also said that the station’s real-time weighing system is expected to help reduce unnecessary traffic build-up by stopping overloaded trucks before they reach the bridge.
He recalled that the project broke ground on September 13, 2024, and thanked CCLEC for sustaining the project.
Archival also announced that CCLEX will soon begin construction of a new ramp from the CSCR to V. Rama Avenue, giving motorists from Mactan Island more direct access to Cebu City.
Alfon confirmed that the ramp is part of an existing Joint Venture Agreement between CCLEC and the city, which has been revived under the current administration. BRP (CEBU NEWS)
