CCMC launches Mayor Archival’s I-SAVE program
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) became the first government office under the Cebu City Government to implement Mayor Nestor Archival’s I-SAVE Program—an initiative designed to cut electricity costs through simple, everyday conservation practices.
Launched the other day within the hospital compound, the Initiative to Save Value Energy (I-SAVE) marks a key milestone under Archival’s 10-Point Agenda on Climate Resilience and Infrastructure.
Mayor Archival graced the event along with City Administrator Albert Tan, Councilor Michelle Abella, CCMC Chief of Hospital Dr. Anton Oliver Reposar II, and Hospital Administrator Kenneth Siasar during the launch.
Their presence underscored the administration’s push for cross-sector accountability in climate adaptation.
CCMC’s move signals a shift in how public institutions approach energy use, with the hospital committing to switch off idle air-conditioning units and office equipment to reduce monthly consumption.
“This is a proud moment,” Mayor Archival told staff and officials gathered for the launch.
“Small actions can create a big impact. CCMC is showing us that climate resilience begins with discipline and awareness,” he added.
The mayor also encouraged employees to extend the conservation mindset to water use, suggesting the use of personal tumblers as a practical alternative to disposable cups.
“I’m grateful to CCMC for leading the way as the first City Hall department to embrace this program. I also encouraged everyone to take part—like using personal tumblers to help conserve water,” Mayor Archival added.
For CCMC, the I-SAVE Program is more than a checklist—it’s a commitment to lead by example.
As other departments prepare to follow suit, the hospital’s early adoption sets the tone for a broader culture of sustainability within City Hall. JG (CEBU NEWS)
