Cebu sets Guinness World Record for largest claw machine
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu has officially made history as PlayFair at TOPS unveiled the world’s largest claw machine, earning a coveted spot in the Guinness World Records.
The massive machine, dubbed “Claw King,” measures 49.90 cubic meters (1,761 cubic feet), significantly surpassing the previous record held by the "Santa Claw" in Dayton, Ohio.
The dimensions of Claw King are: Length: 5.229 meters; Width: 2.477 meters; and Height: 3.88 meters.
The project was brought to life by PlayFair’s team of engineers and creatives, led by Chief Technological Officer “Kuya Magic.”
The machine required over 4,500 screws, 100 meters of cable, two months of design, and just five days to assemble on-site at the iconic TOPS in Barangay Busay, known for its panoramic views of Cebu City.
“This machine is not just a feat of engineering. It’s a symbol of what’s possible when creativity meets purpose,” said Kuya Magic, who revealed his excitement upon receiving early confirmation from Guinness.
The official measurement and verification were conducted by Engineer Noel Aguilar Jr. of Dakay Engineering, ensuring compliance with Guinness standards. The ceremonial unveiling was held on July 5, 2025, with the record officially certified on July 21, 2025.
“This achievement showcases Filipino creativity and engineering excellence. We’re proud to bring joy and global recognition to Cebu,” said Atty. Venice Francine Bogo of PlayFair.
PlayFair’s flagship venue at TOPS combined nostalgic arcade fun with modern entertainment, aiming to draw visitors from across the Philippines and beyond.
