Bercede, Ouano to attend flag-raising on Monday

CEBU, Philippines — Incoming Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano, with his team and outgoing city officials of Mandaue, will all join the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, June 30.

This symbolic gathering will mark the start of the City’s leadership transition as the incoming administration prepared to assume office.

Mayor Glenn Bercede said this is the first-time that a significant joint event will take place in the city.

“For the first time nga naay turnover, in ani naay nahitabo,” said Bercede.

Following the ceremony, the official turnover will happen during the final session of the 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod, as included in the agenda.

Along with the transition process, the incoming administration has sent a letter to authorize the entry of the incoming team to observe current operations in different offices.

The outgoing administration welcomed this move to help the new officials be familiar with ongoing programs and services before they officially assume their roles.

“Ako nihatag authority [para] di mabag-ohan ba kanang mo-takeover,” Bercede said.

In a separate interview, Atty. Gonzalo “Sally” Malig-on, the transition team of the incoming administration of Ouano shared that the transition between the outgoing and incoming administration went just fine.

Malig-on added that the departments cooperated with the transition by turning over information that is useful for the incoming administration.

“Amo lang nga we will come ready ba nga dili inig June 30 wala me kalibutan og unsay set-up,” said Malig-on, explaining the purpose of the observation.
