MANILA, Philippines — CEBU strengthen partnership with the Cebu City Government, despite being in the opposing party, by collaborating with the programs of the incoming administration.

Rama, together with the winning candidates of the Partido BARUG–Team Rama coalition with Bag-ong Sugbo, took their respective oaths of office on Friday, May 30.

The winning candidates under the same banner are Councilors Philip Zafra, Francis Esparis, Harry Erran, and Mikel Rama.

In an interview, the representative of Cebu City's south district said that with his new mandate,  he would like to continue with the implementation of infrastructure projects and to revisit legislations that were not passed in the previous Congress.

Rama also expressed his desire to maintain close coordination with the City Government, which he looked forward to with optimism with the leadership of Mayor-elect Nestor Archival.

He said  he hoped to collaborate on more efficient spending for the City of Cebu, particularly in the south district.

“I think with the fresh mandate then nakita sad nato ang pagsalig sa mga tawo nato sa niaging piniliay, ang mayoriya nato nakita nato ang ilang trust and confidence diha sa atoa,” said Rama.

In pursuit of good governance, he said he wanted to focus on working with the new Cebu City administration.

“And hopefully we can work together, because coordination is key for the city,” said Rama.

Rama said he heard the pronouncement of Archival about making Cebu City number one again, a vision that he also shared even when he was still a councilor.

“So maybe through coordination and dialogue we can achieve greater things together,” said Rama.

Rama's cousin, newly-elected Councilor Mikel Rama, in an earlier report also expressed his desire for a collaborative Cebu City Council where they would set aside political affiliation and focus on the working together for the benefit of the city's constituents.
