Galeos: Davide barking up the wrong tree

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Second District Rep. Edsel Galeos has responded to allegations from his political opponent, Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, who accused him of spreading misinformation during public gatherings in their district.

Davide, who is challenging Galeos in the upcoming congressional race for Cebu s second district, claimed that the incumbent congressman  would always badmouth  him, alleging that he had accomplished nothing during his tenure as governor.

In a letter dated February 24, Galeos countered Davide s claims, stating that the vice governor was addressing the  wrong audience.

It is not me whom you need to persuade of your purported achievements, but rather the people of the district   the very constituents who hold the power to evaluate and compare leadership,  Galeos said in his letter, which was also posted on his official Facebook page,  Atong Amigo Edsel Galeos.

Davide, in his letter, had outlined his accomplishments, citing various programs and projects implemented by the Cebu Provincial Government in the second district s seven towns and 143 barangays during his tenure.

In response, Galeos argued that the constituents' assessment of leadership is  shaped not by personal narratives but by tangible results and their impact on their daily lives.

It is they who measure the effectiveness of governance, and perhaps, in doing so, they have drawn comparisons between your tenure and that of Governor Gwen Garcia,  Galeos added.

As for his own performance, the incumbent congressman expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence of his constituents, which he believes is reflected in the positive ratings he has received.

Their continued support serves as both validation and motivation to fulfill my responsibilities with unwavering dedication,  he said.

Galeos is running under the LAKAS-CMD party and is also the official candidate of One Cebu for the May 2025 elections.   (CEBU NEWS)
