CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government is set to build six more four-story school buildings within this year.

With the approval of the Cebu City Council chaired by Vice Mayor Donaldo Hontiveros, one of the six school buildings will be built at the Cebu City National Science High School (CCNSHS) in Barangay Labangon.

Aside from CCNSHS, another school building in Labangon will also be constructed through the Local School Board. The other school buildings will be built barangays Hipodromo, San Jose, San Nicolas, and Tisa.

Mayor Raymond Garcia announced this plan during the official turnover of a school building, with 20 classrooms, at the Don Vicente Rama Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Basak - San Nicolas, recently.

Garcia said this initiative is part of the City's goal to provide better education facilities.

The newly-completed four-storey facility has been designed to enhance learning environment for students and teachers, reflecting the local government s commitment to quality education and infrastructure development.

Garcia highlighted the long-term impact of investing in schools, saying, that providing well-equipped facilities is key to shaping the future of young Cebuanos.

"The future of our children belongs to their education. And on top of that, aside from the Cebu City Government, I would like to acknowledge all our teachers. Teachers are the unsung heroes of the development of our city and our children," Garcia said.

Late last month, the City Government also turned over another 20-classroom building in Punta Princesa Elementary School.

The city government also got an additional classroom for Pardo Elementary School's alternative learning system through the generosity of the Edgar Cokaliong Foundation. (CEBU NEWS)
