Mandaue distributes educational kits, equipment to daycare centers
CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City School Board, along with the Mandaue City Government, turned over early childhood care and development (ECCD) kits to the barangay daycare centers in the city.
The Mandaue City Government wants to equip daycare centers with the necessary tools and materials to effectively educate young children.
Mandaue City Mayor Glenn Bercede led the ceremonial distribution of equipment and kits to the teachers of the daycare centers, including refrigerators, daycare workbooks, ECCD Center packages, playsets, speakers, and printers.
The school board will distribute materials and new facilities to children in at least 18 barangay daycare centers.
Through the equipment and materials, the Mandaue City Government hopes to provide young children with proper education and enhance their learning skills.
City Councilors Maline Cortes-Zafra, Jimmy Lumapas, Malcolm Sanchez, along with officials from the Local School Board and the Department of Education (DepEd) Mandaue, expressed their support for the development of quality education in the daycare centers.
As reported, the Mandaue City School Board planned to enhance early childhood learning by integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education into barangay daycare centers.
The school board has approved a total of P19.6-million budget for the program, which will be used to put up new facilities, including playsets for young children.
Mandaue Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) Head August Lizer Malate, a member of the school board secretariat, previously said that this is the first time the City has allocated funds for early childhood care and development.
With STEAM-based learning, Malate said that while children used to engage both their brains and bodies only in malls, Mandaue now has designed a program that will integrate this approach into barangay daycare centers. (CEBU NEWS)
