Danao City to join Sinulog 2025

CEBU, Philippines — After several years focusing on making improvements to its city, Danao City has confirmed that it will be joining next year's Sinulog.

This was announced by Danao City Mayor Thomas Mix Durano through the city's official Facebook page.

As part of the Danawanon Spirit   we always give thanks and celebrate with the community. Thats why Im happy to announce today that Danao City will be joining the grandest festival in Cebu this 2025. The Sinulog Festival Durano said.

The mayor said for years, the city became busy "prioritizing and acting on local concerns while innovating programs for the city's renewed direction and progressive future through our Roadmap."

Amidst the challenges the city encountered, Durano said they did not just survive but also achieved several accomplishments in two years, which the LGU considered as a reward of their efforts and sacrifices.

Among the achievements the city has accomplished are the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award, elevating its income classification from a third income class city to second class, and Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence 2024, among others.

Now, while the city continues to make steps towards its goal of progress, its officials decided to join the grandest festival in the island, Sinulog 2025.

In 2017, Danao city joined the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan, through DepEd Danao Youth Cultural Troupe (Danao City Division) wherein the group was able to bag 2nd place in best in musicality, street dancing, and ritual showdown for the elementary division.

As to the preparation of the city in next year's Sinulog, Danao has not yet released any further details. — /ATO (FREEMAN)
