Garcia preps for Sinulog 2025 at CCSC

CEBU, Philippines — Even as he is set to step down as acting mayor come November, Cebu City Mayor Raymond Garcia is pushing through with his plan to prepare ahead for next year s Sinulog at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC), ignoring Mayor Mike Rama s earlier opposition against it.

In an interview with the media, Garcia said with certainty that the staging of the event will be back at the CCSC.

Ah definitely! Definitely!  said Garcia the other day even as his being an acting mayor is set to end early November with Rama coming back after serving a six-month suspension.

Garcia said he is set to meet with the Sinulog Foundation Board, led by its president Engr. Ricky Dakay, on Friday.

I already talked to Engr.Dakay who told me nga they will be ready to meet next week, to present whatever diha nako,  Garcia said.

Prior to that, Garcia said the SFI has already met with the Archdiocese of Cebu for the other religious activities in line with the Sto. Ni o de Cebu fiesta, aside from the Grand Sinulog parade and showdown.

Garcia is also excited about next year s Sinulog staging with the return of the participants from Cebu Province.

But I don t think I have to invite them, they will volunteer themselves to join the mardi gras. I mean, Governor Gwen has already said it, time and time again, she is 100,000 percent supporting .supportive of our Sinulog,  Garcia added.

With this, acting Mayor Garcia is expecting next year s edition to be the  biggest and the grandest.

Garcia took note that in the last Sinulog held at the SRP there were less than 20 contingents who joined, but with the Cebu Province s support, they could easily send in 15 more contingents or more.

Can you imagine, full support ang Province of Cebu, they will be adding at least 15. Easily muabot tag double, 30, 35. So can you imagine how grand it will be...the grandest ever Sinulog in 2025,  Garcia said. (CEBU NEWS)
