Passerelles Numériques Philippines holds art exhibit

CEBU, Philippines — The Passerelles Numériques Philippines (PNPh) launches its 16th year with a three-day art exhibit honoring iconic Filipino women in Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and concluding the “Buwan ng Wika” in August.

The art exhibit, dubbed “Dis-S-Sias,” is a significant moment for PNPh as it highlights not only its commitment to digital education but also its dedication to empowering underprivileged youth and their families by providing pathways out of poverty through technology and education.

The ten iconic Filipino women in ICT are Ambe Tierro, Country Managing Director of Accenture Philippines; Stephanie Velasco-Orlino, AVP and Stakeholder Management Lead of PLDT Smart; Welnee Asoy Butterfield, VP Client solutions of Narrasoft Inc.; Tressa Pradilla, Project Management Office Head of Fulcrum Solutions; Jane Luague, full stack Senior Software Engineer of TrustArc; Janette C. Toral, Director of I-Metrics Asia Pacific Corporation; Clarissa Segismundo led both the Education and Youth Ambassadors Programs of Microsoft Philippines;  Eloisa P. Tinio, co-founder of the Philippine Society for Information Technology Educators (PSITE); Marivi Lim-Hardy, Special Education K-12 Teacher of the information Mission Achievement Success and Charter School; Dr. Jovelyn Cuizon, dean of the school of Computer Studies of the university of San Jose-Recoletos.

“Our students have put together an inspiring tribute to iconic Filipina figures in ICT and the digital field, showcasing their incredible contributions and paving the way for future generations. This exhibition is more than just a celebration—it’s a testament to the power of digital education in transforming lives,” PNPh said in its Facebook post. The art exhibit runs from August 29 to 31, 2024.

PNPh is a non-governmental organization based in Cebu dedicated to providing underprivileged Filipino youth with access to high-quality education in IT and digital technology.

Its mission is to empower youth with the skills and opportunities needed to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families.

Jun Rey Ansing, PNPh Information Technology Coordinator, said that PNPh has sent more than 600 scholars over several years into information and technology programs at various schools and universities in Cebu. — (FREEMAN)
