CEBU, Philippines — No more walk-ins for those seeking jobs at the Cebu City Hall, as application is now online.

Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) Head Henry Tomalabcad said Cebu City is the first local government unit in Central Visayas to set up its own online portal for its hiring services.

This is part of the City’s digitalization efforts, as it bids to becoming a smarter city.

But more to that, he said, this is expected to streamline the selection process, hiring personnel based on credentials.

“This innovative platform will not only streamline our recruitment process, it will enhance our ability to attract, hire, and retain top talents,” Tomalabcad said via the City Government’s Sugboanon channel.

Applicants are to use the City’s Electronic Portal for Requirement and Integrated Management and Employment (e-PRIME) online portal to look for any available job offerings at City Hall and in submitting their requirements.

HRDO already issued a memorandum to City Hall Departments last week concerning the use of the e-PRIME platform in the recruitment of new plantilla employees.

“Tanan dili na mo-walk in sa among opisina. Ari naka mo-register sa HRDO e-PRIME,” Tomalabcad stressed.

The E-PRIME online portal can be accessed through this link: https://onlineservices.cebucity.gov.ph/hreprime/

Tomalabcad said City Hall employees are also encouraged to test the online portal’s features and report to HRDO if there are any kinks to its usability.

“Dili pa na 100 percent perfect, we will need feedback from the other departments, from our employees and from Acting Mayor Garcia himself,” he said.

HRDO’s Employees Welfare and Development Division Head Antonio Abella, Jr. also assured that the e-PRIME platform is a user-friendly interface, with access to job opportunities and application tracking, among others.

“HRDO e-PRIME has you covered. It significantly improves the efficiency of the (HRDO’s) human resource management,” he said.

“Sa una, ang aplikante magsige pag panawag ug bisita sa City Hall para mangumusta sa ilang application. Karon, makita na nimo ug ma-track nimo kung pila na ka days ang posting (of job applications) o’ naapil ba sila sa shortlist,” Tomalabcad said.

HRDO Recruitment, Selection, and Placement Section Head Jovit Cueva, on the other hand, also said that applicants can even file their Personal Data Sheet (PDS) or Form 212 through the e-PRIME portal.

The online platform is also accessible through mobile phone.

“Mas dali sad siya kung mobile, ilabi na sa pag-upload sa imong documents, kay imo rang picture-ran sa imong cellphone dayon send sa online portal,” Abella said.

With this platform, jobseekers can also save on money and paper just for the documentation process.

“Sa una, kung mang-apply ka, daghan ka’g PDS nga buhaton dayun ipa-photocopy pa. And kada requirement imo pang ipa-photocopy dayon submit sa HRDO. Karon, igo nalang i-upload,” Tomalabcab said.

He said that since its launch last July 22, they noted at least 200 people per day who applied through the portal. – /RHM (FREEMAN)
