Increase in honorarium pushed in Mandaue City

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue City Council has approved on first reading three proposed ordinances granting additional honorarium for job order employees, Barangay Health Workers, and Clean and Green Workers.

The proposed ordinances, authored by Councilor Marie Immaline Cortes-Zafra, are also scheduled for second and third and final reading next week.

The proposed ordinance No. 42-2024 seeks to grant P57 increase in the daily wage of job order personnel for services rendered from April 1, 2024 to July 31, 2024.

“The total amount of honorarium differential should not exceed P5,000. Thereafter, the daily honorarium for services actually rendered by the Job Order Personnel shall revert back to the original amount P435,” the proposed measure reads.

On the other hand, proposed ordinance No. 41-2024 seeks to grant P1,200 increase in the monthly honorarium of all BHWs. If approved, the BHWs in Mandaue City will get P4,500 monthly honorarium.

Meanwhile, proposed ordinance No. 42-2024 also seeks P600 increase in the monthly honorarium of Clean and Green Personnel and Barangay Health and Nutrition Workers (BHNWs).

The proposed increase, however, is only t6emporary and specific for the period covering from April 1, 2024 to July 31, 2024.

The proposed ordinances stated that the funds shall be charged from the 2024 Annual Budget of the city. – /FPL (FREEMAN)
