CEBU, Philippines — A delegation from St. Petersburg, Russia will be coming in Cebu next month to attend the 455th Founding Anniversary of Cebu Province next month.

Saint Petersburg Governor Alexander Dmitrievich Beglov wrote a letter to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia accepting the latter s invitation for the city to visit Cebu.

I have the honor to inform you that Saint Petersburg with pleasure accepts your invitations and will send a delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg Kalganov Vyacheslav Gennadievich,  read his letter

Beglov believes that the presence of their delegation is a manifestation of both provinces  sincere friendship and aspirations for  mutually beneficial cooperation.

In June this year, Garcia led a Cebu delegation to Russia to renew the sisterhood agreement between St. Petersburg and Cebu Province. She also attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where she was able to invite officials there to visit Cebu island.

In particular, the Capitol plans to organize a summit with international stakeholders in the medical field and the tourism sector in time for the province s founding anniversary.

Beglov said in his letter that Garcia s visit this year demonstrated  high professionalism and sincere interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation  between St. Petersburg and Cebu Province.

I am convinced that the successes achieved during your visit will be reflected in further filling the bilateral agreements on comprehensive cooperation signed in Saint Petersburg with practical content aimed at concrete results  he said.

Cebu Province and St. Petersburg first had their sisterhood pact in 2009 during Garcia s second term as governor. (CEBU NEWS)
