CCPO gets new cars, rifles

Jonnavie Villa - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — To enhance operational capability and readiness in combating crimes, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) received additional brand new units of patrol cars and rifles from the city government.

The Cebu City Government, led by acting Mayor Raymond Garcia, turned over eight patrol cars worth P7.3 million, 56 assault rifles, and four sniper rifles to CCPO director Ireneo Dalogdog.  Garcia was joined by Councilor Philip Zafra, chairman of the committee on public order, in the turn over ceremony yesterday morning.

Dalogdog extended his gratitude to the city government for choosing them as end-user of the mobility assets to help improve their anti-criminality program.

“Kaning police visibility usa ni siya sa atong proactive measures na maka deter sa commission of crime, and aside from that, katong mga firearms pud nga gi-turn over sa atoa at least ma equipped atong mga PNP personnel,” said Dalogdog.

According to Dalogdog, more mobile cars are expected to be turned over to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit and the City Mobile Force Company to further enhance their security operations.

Garcia said the arrival of the new police cars and firearms is very timely considering that the city currently hosts the Palarong Pambansa 2024.

“It came at the right time nga diri karon ang deployment of our assets karong mga panahona kay Palaro baya and we already have big games that we have already started yesterday and the influx of people are coming in,” Garcia said.

He expressed his gratitude to the city council for approving and allocating funds for the purchase of the said equipment, emphasizing that the police now have no reason not to perform their duties properly.

“Wana juy rason ang atong kapolisan nga dili ni sila maka perform og tarong sa ilang mando, sa ilang mandato, sa ilang duty kay ang Cebu City Government is 100% supporting them with ammunition, with equipment and even karon sa atong mga sakyanan,” Garcia said.

Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, regional director of Police Regional Office - 7, urged the policemen to take care of the resources provided to them and not use them for personal gain.

“Ang hinihiling ko lang sa ating mga kapulisan sa Cebu City is to take good care of this equipment, especially sa ating mga patrol cars. They must be properly maintained tapos yung mga drivers natin should be licensed drivers,” said Aberin. (CEBU NEWS)
