Wastewater treatment facility opens in Dalaguete

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia visited two Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects in the Dalaguete town over the weekend.

Garcia and Dalaguete Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante led the blessing and ribbon-cutting of the first-ever Wastewater Treatment Facility in Southern Cebu, and the inspection and unveiling of marker of the town’s JL DialMed Dialysis Center.

“Amo g’yud ning gituyo ug gibuhat nga naa g’yud si Governor Gwen aron makakita siya nga dinhing dapita ‘dunay mga programa nga iya pu’ng ikapanghambog, nga ang iyang mga gingsak’pan dinhi nagpahimutang usab,” said Cesante in his speech.

The Wastewater Treatment Facility in Dalaguete is a pioneering project which is operated by the local government in partnership with a private company called Cebu Reliance.

According to Sugbo News, the official news portal of the provincial government, the facility is funded with a total of P11 million--- P7.8 million from the municipality and P3 million from the provincial government.

In addition, the facility occupies an area of 100 square meters which processes approximately 6 cubic meters of wastewater per hour. It also claimed that the facility can effectively purify wastewater from drainage and rain runoff in the Poblacion area in Dalaguete which ensures that contaminants are removed before the water is discharged back into the ocean.

“Aron masiguro nato nga ang mga tubig nga atong mahatod didto sa kadagatan sigurado ug limpyo na,” said Cesante in his speech.

They also claimed that the treated water produced by the facility can also be used for agricultural, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Meanwhile, Dalaguete's JL DialMed Dialysis Center that started its operation for three months, is equipped with 10 dialysis units and serves at least 24 patients from Dalaguete and neighboring towns.

The center also offers a range of dialysis services at reduced costs ranging from P750 to P3,400, including hemodialysis, Eposino 4000IU, Eposino 6000IU, high and low flux dialyzers and other dialysis services.

In a post by Sugbo News, the facility was established through a PPP between the Municipality of Dalaguete and JL DialMed Trading Company wherein the municipality collects a monthly rental of P20,000 from the facility.

“The establishment of the Dalaguete Hemodialysis Center not only addresses critical healthcare needs but also promotes future collaborations between the government and the private sector for community welfare,” read a portion ofSugbo News post.
