Passion drives success of R Cebu Trade Fair

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia underscored the importance of passion during the opening of the R Cebu Pahugyaw sa Segundo ug Sixto Distrito trade fair, a key initiative she introduced to support Cebuano micro entrepreneurs.

Garcia reflected on how passion has driven the success and sustainability of the R Cebu throughout its four-year existence.

When you speak of passion that is only for our own interest, for our own enjoyment, pretty soon it passes, mawala ra gyod, she continued, adding that passion must be dedicated to the good of the majority, to an ideal which is to serve   to serve with all your heart, mind, and soul those that have entrusted to you their welfare and well-being, Garcia said.

We see this kind of passion in the sustainability of R Cebu, she added, recalling how the program has blossomed from the bleak days of the pandemic to what it is nowadays--- a symbol of Cebuano dedication, ingenuity, and determination to succeed.

Sugbo News, Capitol s official news portal, noted the significant evolution of the program over the years, highlighting how the products showcased at the quarterly trade fair have continually improved and elevated in quality. The initiative has successfully supported many Cebuano entrepreneurs, helping them thrive in their businesses.

The R' Cebu Trade Fair has been one of Capitol s main programs in fostering community growth and entrepreneurial success in Cebu.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to Garcia for helping promote local products in every locality in Cebu.

The trade fair, which runs from June 14 until Sunday, June 16, features the best products of Cebu s second district municipalities of Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Boljoon, Oslob, Santander, and Samboan; as well as the sixth district LGUs of Consolacion and Cordova; and the Lone District of Mandaue.

Food products like masareal, dried mangoes, hopia, torta and other sweet delicacies as well as handicrafts from Consolacion and Cordova are being showcased.

Present during the opening program on Friday were Provincial Board Members Glenn Soco and Stanley Caminero, Cordova Mayor Cesar Suan, Dalaguete Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante, Samboan Mayor Emerito Doc Tito Calderon, Jr., and Argao Mayor Allan Sesaldo and other local officials in the two districts.

Department of Tourism Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano and Undersecretary Ferdinand Jumapao, as well as Department of Trade and Industry Cebu director Rose Mae Qui anola also graced the event. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
