BOC strengthens partnership with stakeholders

CEBU, Philippines —  The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Cebu and various organizations at the Cebu South Harbor Container Terminal (CSHCT) recently sat down together to tackle how to further streamline customs clearance processes and enhance coordination between the port and stakeholders.

Deputy Collector for Assessment Atty. Marc Anthony Patriarca recently visited the CSHCT and sat down with representatives from various organizations to discuss the goal.

During the discussion, Patriarca emphasized the importance of accuracy in the filing of entries to prevent penalties, stressing on the Port of Cebu’s commitment to efficient trade facilitation.

He also reminded the stakeholders anew to be more circumspect in their submissions to facilitate smoother transactions.

Patriarca further advised the stakeholders to be diligent in their documentation and submission procedures, stressing the critical role accurate entries play in the seamless flow of goods.

“The efficiency of our trade processes significantly depends on the accuracy and timeliness of the documents submitted. We urge all stakeholders to adhere to these guidelines to avoid any operational delays,” said Patriarca, in a statement posted on BOC’s Facebook page.

According to the post, the significant highlight of the meeting was President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for a 24/7 shipment process nationwide.

This initiative “aims to boost trade facilitation and ensure the seamless movement of goods across the country, aligning with the administration’s vision for economic growth and development.”

Further, Michael Teotico, CSHCT port manager commended the Port of Cebu’s dedication to ensuring efficient trade operations.

Teotico added that the proactive measures taken by the Port of Cebu are commendable and the latter’s efforts are crucial in maintaining the seamless movement of goods through the terminal.

“The Port of Cebu continues to work closely with stakeholders to implement innovative solutions that support an efficient and stakeholder-friendly environment,” the statement said.

Aside from the Cebu South Harbor, representatives from the Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc., Association of International Shipping Lines, Maersk Shipping Lines, CMA CGM Philippines, JPP Cargo Logistics Inc., Barte Customs Brokerage, Alin Customs Brokerage, Evergreen Shipping, Prestige Warehousing and Logistics Services, Embrado Customs Brokerage, Lao Customs Brokerage, Avenido Customs Brokerage, ECB Worldwide Transport, LRA Customs Brokerage, and LBCB joined the said discussions.
