CEBU, Philippines — After a successful benchmarking activity in Cebu, the group of local government treasurers and assessors of Bicol region plans to replicate Cebu’s “best practices” for more efficient processes.

Last June 6, 2024, about 50 provincial, city, and municipal assessors and treasurers of the Association of Treasurers and Assessors of Region 5 or Bicol Region participated in the said benchmarking activity and learned the different programs and projects implemented by the Provincial Government of Cebu.

The group was led by Rafael Kallos, Tabaco City treasurer and vice president of the association, and Geralden Purog, assessment officer of the Bureau of Local Government Finance Region 5.

Vice Governor Hilario Davide III also led the Capitol officials in welcoming the delegation from the Bicol region and presented to them what the Province of Cebu has done in its continuing progress and development.

The treasurers and assessors learned the system imposed by Cebu Province when it comes to property appraisal, tax mapping, digitized collection system, as well as tourism programs of Cebu being one of the prime tourism destinations in the country.

Both Kallos and Purog expressed positive responses to the lessons they gained from the Capitol.

“We really like to replicate some of these things that we learned today,” Kallos said in an interview by Sugbo News, the Capitol’s news portal.
