Drugs worth P41 million seized

CEBU, Philippines — Close to P41 Million worth of illegal drugs was seized by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 in a two-day operation, as well as by the Lapu-Lapu Police Office.

A total of 3,026.35 grams of shabu amounting to P20.5 million was seized by PRO-7 from 18 individuals caught last May 8 to 9, 2024.

Apart from operations against illegal drugs, PRO-7 also implemented 15 operations against illegal gambling, wherein 22 people were arrested.

The police also conducted an operation against loose firearms, where one firearm was confiscated and one was arrested.

Further, 19 individuals were arrested in a separate operation, with two being most wanted persons in the region.

Meanwhile, a joint buy bust operation of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) seized 3,000 grams of shabu worth P20.4 million from two high value individual (HVI) female pushers in Sitio Basak Merkado in Barangay Basak, past 10 Wednesday evening, May 8, 2024.

Police Lieutenant Christian Torres, head of the City Investigation Detection and Management Unit (CIDMU) and spokesperson of the LCPO only identified the names of the two arrested women as Gaga, 44 and Eng-eng, 26 who both live in the area.

The buy bust operation was led by Major Judith Besas, chief of Precinct 4 of the LCPO; Police Major Dindo Alaras, head of the CIU; and its deputy, Police Captain Abraham Igot.

Torres said that the LCPO team had been monitoring the illegal activities in the area for some time until the buy bust operation was conducted, which led to the arrest of the two.

Police Colonel Ali Baron, office-in-charge director of the LCPO said that the arrest of the two female drug pushers is an indication of their ongoing operations to stop illegal drug activities in the city. ATO (CEBU NEWS)
