City markets hit over P35 million revenue

CEBU, Philippines — The Office of the City Markets (OCM) has collected over P35 million in revenues for the first quarter of 2024.

The OCM reported P35.37 million in total revenue collection from January to March this year. The amount is higher by more than half million pesos compared to the P34.8 million revenue collection in the same period last year.

According to the OCM, these revenues came from the market rentals, penalties from market code violators, parking fees, “arkabala” or cash tickets, available spaces, and miscellaneous fees.

OCM spokesperson John Paul Amores said the increase in market revenues could be attributed to the efficient collection of the administrators and appraisers assigned in Carbon Public Market’s Units 1, 2, and 3; Pasil Fish Market; and the city’s satellite markets, including Cogon-Ramos, Poblacion Pardo, Punta Princesa, Guadalupe, Taboan, and T. Padilla.

Amores said they also collected revenues from Freedom Park and Warwick Barracks.

The OCM, led by market administrator Robert Barquilla, is hoping that they will hit their P150 million target collection for 2024.
