Mini-SUV rams into fastfood joint

CEBU, Philippines — One was injured after a mini-SUV rammed into a fast food joint in Poblacion West, municipality of Moalboal at 9:20 in the morning yesterday, April 11, 2024.

According to Police Captain Claudio Gako, chief of the Moalboal Police station, the car was driven by Anatolio Labra Cardente Jr., 64, from San Roque Village, Brgy. Calamba, Cebu City, who lost control while attempting to park.

Before ramming into the glass wall of the fast food joint, Cardente's vehicle collided with the tail side of a bus that was unloading a passenger at the bus stop nearby.

After hitting the bus, Cardente reportedly lost control again and rammed into the fast food joint.

The collision injured one of the customers, Niño Gabunada Besa, 33, from Poblacion Moalboal, who was eating inside.

Besa sustained arm injuries and was transported to Badian District Hospital for treatment.

Those involved in the accident were taken to the Moalboal Police Station for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the ride-hailing app whose driver and passenger was killed after hitting a center island at the viaduct leading to the South Road Properties has assured that they are working with authorities and the families of victims.

“We at MOVE IT extend our sincere condolences to the colleagues and families of the rider and the passenger involved in the recent accident along South Road Properties viaduct in Cebu City. We promptly dispatched our incident response team to the area to provide on-the-ground support and immediate assistance. We are also in close contact with the affected families, providing them with comprehensive aid through our insurance policies and support programs,” the statement read.

Further, the company assured that they are “in close coordination with the local law enforcement agencies to aid in their investigation.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families. We will ensure they receive the full support they need during this time,” they added. – ATO (CEBU NEWS)
