Camotes gets hemodialysis center
CEBU, Philippines — Renal patients in Camotes Group of Islands do not have to travel far for their regular hemodialysis session after the district hospital in the island now has its own hemodialysis center.
The newly-inaugurated hemodialysis center is located at the Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital. It has 10 units of hemodialysis machine.
The inauguration on March 18, 2024 was attended by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and the mayors of the four towns in the island--- San Francisco, Poro, Tudela and Pilar.
During the inauguration, the Department of Health (DOH) gave the dialysis center the license to operate.
“Up and running na gyud ang atong dialysis center, labi na kay duna na sab tay nephrologist,” Garcia said during her speech.
Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital is the fourth provincial-run hospital that has a dialysis center, established by the Capitol together with its private partner Medtronix Medical Supplies and Equipment.
The other provincial hospitals that have established dialysis centers are Balamban, Danao and Carcar.
Meanwhile, Garcia announced during her visit to Camotes Island last Monday that the Capitol will be constructing a 3-storey building at the district hospital there with additional 150 beds to its current service capacity.
Garcia said the provincial engineering office has already presented a sketch plan for the realization of the said building to serve more patients in the island. — (FREEMAN)
