Traffic problem is being addressed

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama assures the public that the traffic problem in the city is now being addressed, stressing that what happened at the South Road Properties (SRP) earlier this week will not happen again.

Rama, in an online interview through the Sugboanon Channel- a page handled by the Cebu City government, disclosed that he immediately called a meeting with Cebu City Administrator Collin Rossel and the Traffic Management Council (TMC) among other concerned agencies following the heavy traffic congestion that was experienced last February 20, 2024 at the SRP.

According to Rama, they have been working on solutions to the city’s traffic problem.

“I call it never again anywhere in Cebu City...never again,” said Rama.

Rama, however, refused to detail out the details on what transpired during the meeting, adding that

planning is still ongoing.

Further, Rama said that their efforts also include proactive measures with an automatic initiative through the usage of artificial intelligence (AI).

He also said that these efforts are made to meet the vision of a Singapore-like Cebu City with Melbourne features.

“And all these Jurassic situations are still occurring, di na pwede nako lagi, sa tinuod lang I just inherited all of this,” said Rama.

The Cebu City Council has earlier approved multiple ways to solve the traffic problem at the SRP. (CEBU NEWS)
