Carbon market main building breaks ground
CEBU, Philippines — Construction works of the main building of Carbon Market will soon start following the groundbreaking of the project the other night.
Lydwena Eco, deputy general manager of Cebu2World, a subsidiary of Megawide Construction Corporation, said their target completion for the main building is either on the first or second quarter of 2024.
“The order is tall to complete this building so I hope everyone would support us as well,” said Eco.
The multi-level main public market building will house vendors from the wet and dry sections of Carbon market with each stall in the wet section to have their own water and drainage system, an elevator, ramp, mechanical lift, atrium, multiple toilet cubicles and a much later sleeping quarters for the vendors and a proper material recovery facility (MRF).
“Ang lower ground floor ani niya will be the wet market, meat and fish under unit 1 will be moved here…Each stall will then have its own water/drainage system, cold storage facility, proper materials recovery facility para di manimaho atong garbage kay wet market biya siya…Upper ground, ibalik to nato diri ang flower vendors, so the vista, the view from USJ-R will be Freedom Park, through and through na na siya and derecho siya sa atong flower section and native section will also be moved here…and the fruits section,” Eco said.
What will be left in the interim market will be the carenderia section, although it will be moved to the ground floor from the second floor.
“On the planning point of view, from Freedom Park which we call block 1 up to block 2, ang iyang concept—it will have a seamless pedestrian section…and then transports/vehicular access will be along Calderon Street and Escaño Street and also with a delivery bay and proper setback…para og magdeliver og items,” added Eco.
The construction of the edifice will use precast materials from Megawide Construction Corp. to ensure quality work and to accelerate production.
“We will be using precast infrastructure, pre-cast methodology…And I’m proud to say that Megawide is the second largest pre-cast construction company in Southeast Asia…I hope we stand by that accolade,” Eco said. (CEBU NEWS)
