Over 4,000 overseas jobs await jobseekers

Mitchelle L. Palaubsano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Over 4,000 job vacancies await the jobseekers during the 2023 Overseas Job Fair that will be spearheaded by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at The Atrium, Robinsons Galleria, Cebu City on December 8, 2023.

DMW-7 OIC-regional director, Atty. Karl Frederick L. Arriola, said the positions that posted the highest number of vacancies are nurses, teachers, accountants, waiters/waitresses, managers, technicians, electricians, painters, caregivers, welders, manager positions, farmers, and laborers.

The countries of destination for said positions would include Japan, Australia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Germany, and other European and Asian countries.

As of yesterday, there are 10 overseas recruitment agencies joining the said job fair that offer a total of 4,362 job vacancies for skilled and professional workers abroad.

“We urge the public, especially those who want to seek better employment opportunities overseas, to be wary and stay vigilant of the presence of illegal recruiters, who have already victimized so many. When in doubt, they can always visit the Department of Migrant Workers website and verify the legitimacy of the recruitment agency they are engaging with,” said Arriola, in a statement.

Applicants are advised to be ready with the basic pre-employment requirements and materials such as at least five resumes with photo, passport, certificate of employment, certificate of training (TESDA NC II), professional license issued by the Professional Regulation Commission, and proof of educational qualification.

The job fair will start at 9:00 a.m. and jobseekers are advised to go to the venue early to be able to have enough time to shop for the vacancies that will best suit their interests and abilities.

The 2023 Overseas Job Fair will be conducted in close coordination with PESO-Lapulapu City, the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP)-Cebu City, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA-7); Robinsons Galleria, Cebu Pacific, and United Filipino Global.

Arriola added that DMW is very much happy to be able to help steer the conduct of the upcoming overseas job fair.

“We believe that by conducting the event, we can create an opportunity that not only addresses the immediate employment needs of our community but also fosters collaboration and synergy between DMW and all of its stakeholders. We are once again inviting the public to join us on December 8 and check out the positions that are up for grabs on that day,” Arriola further said. — (FREEMAN)
