Bong Go stays  in Cebu for 2-day events

CEBU, Philippines —  Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go continues to provide assistance, especially to fire victims as he ventures into a two-day visit in Cebu starting yesterday.

His first event yesterday was being one of the guest speakers during the Barangay Health Workers Congress 2023 attended by over 9,000 BWHs in Cebu Province.

Go, dubbed as Mr. Malasakit, also led in the distribution of the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) to 2,253 fire victims held in Cebu City.

Of the 2,253 beneficiaries, 1,819 are in the 17 barangays in Cebu City, 154 in Mandaue City, 214 in Talisay City, 32 in Lapu-Lapu City, and 34 in Consolacion town.

Each structural owner received P10,000. The beneficiaries were fire victims whose houses were partially or totally burned in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The senator also attended the inauguration of Lapu-Lapu City Hospital’s third floor.

He was joined by Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, Congresswoman Cindi King-Chan, Vice Mayor Celedonio Sitoy, DOH-7 regional director, Dr. Jaime Bernadas; Lapu-Lapu City consultant on health, Dr. Mary Jane Loreche and City Hospital administrator, Dr. Deborah Custodio, and the members of the City Council.

They all joined the ribbon cutting followed by the blessing led by Fr. Reynante Joseph Ga.

Mayor Chan thanked Go for the ?68 million assistance for the hospital construction in addition to the funds from DOH and city government.

Go on the other hand thanked the Oponganons for their continued trust, and assured his support to the Cebuanos.

Go added another ?10 million for the start of the next phase of the city hospital’s construction.

The senator together with the Lapu-Lapu City officials also attended the Teachers’ Day celebration in the city at the Hoops Dome, where around 3,000 teachers converged.

In a press conference before the event, the senator recognized the efforts of the teachers of teaching their students because without them there would be no professionals.

Republic Act 10743, enacted in 2016, designates the fifth day of October annually as National Teachers’ Day.

Go capped off his official visit yesterday as he joined the kickoff celebration of the annual Lapu-Lapu City fiesta.

For today, the senator will be giving financial assistance to some fire victims in Cebu City.  (CEBU NEWS)
