CH still accepts applicants for college scholarship

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government through its College Scholarship Program will continue to accept applications for college scholarship even if classes in most colleges and universities have already started.

CCSP, led by its executive director Judy Navarrate, continues to participate in the City Hall at Your Doorstep to be able to guide the locals on how to avail of the scholarship program.

The City Hall at your Doorstep hops in from one barangay to another where residents can avail of different services at their own barangays instead of going to the City Hall and other government offices.

It would also be best to apply ahead of time so the student-applicants will be able to comply with the requirements soon. This will also give the CCCSP an ample time to evaluate the applicant if they could avail of such scholarship especially with the amendments of the guidelines introduced this year.

Among the amendments in the guidelines is that both parents of the applicant should have only a combined annual income of P400,000 and below as reflected in their income tax return.

For those that exceed it, one should present a written certification or medical findings of illness of a family member or school certificate of two or more dependents enrolled in either basic or tertiary education.

The Cebu City government currently has over 20,000 scholars, including the 6,050 newly accepted into the program this school year.

Meanwhile, the CCCSP has announced that those who have not yet claimed their allowance have until Friday to claim it at the second floor of the finance building of the City Treasurer s Office.

Allowances of scholars vary from where they live and study. It ranges from P2,500 to P5,000 for transportation and P1,000 for school supplies.   — /FPL(FREEMAN)
