No chief yet for Cebu Police Provincial Office

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) is currently without a police chief after the resignation of Police Colonel Rommel Ochave was accepted by the national headquarters.

Philippine National Police Chief Benjamin Acorda Jr. received the courtesy resignation of 18 PNP officials,including Ochave, the CPPO director.

Currently, the deputy provincial director for administration, Police Lt. Col. Tomas Santander, is the officer-in-charge of the CPPO.

According to Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-7, based on the statement of the PNP Chief, 18 PNP officers have already resigned and an order has been issued.

“Sa pagkakaron naa may deputy provincial director for administration while waiting for the designation of provincial director,” said Pelare.

Pelare said that they are expecting anytime soon an order appointing a new CPPO director from their superior.

“We will just wait for orders, of course, naa man ni process nga pagahimoon to determine kinsay magsunod nga provincial director,” said Pelare.

Pelare stated that PRO-7 regional director, Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, assured the public that the police will continue to provide services to the CPPO.

He added that nothing would be changed since the programs and plans of the CPPO are already in place. — (FREEMAN)
