Carcar city shooting: Policemen looking into personal grudge, drugs
CEBU, Philippines — Personal grudge and illegal drugs are among the motives the personnel from the Carcar City Police Station are pursuing in the shooting of a father and son at Sitio Bokyol, Barangay Poblacion 3, Carcar City yesterday afternoon.
The police identified the victims as Junie Barcenilla and his son, Randel Barcenilla, residents of Sitio Sacsac, Aloguinsan City.
Police Lt. Col. Mark Gifter Sucalit, Chief of the Carcar City Police Station, said the father was arrested last February 25, 2022 by members of Aloguinsan Municipal Police Station for alleged possession and sale of illegal drugs.
He said the victims sustained several gunshot wounds in the different parts of their bodies, resulting in their death on the spot.
Based on the SOCO police report, Junie and Randel together sustained eight gunshot wounds.
SOCO personnel recovered nine pieces of fired cartridges of 9 mm caliber, one piece metal fragment, and one piece fired bullet on the crime scene.
Sucalit said the perpetrators could have possibly used a KG9 submachine gun pistol to shoot the victims.
He also disclosed that they have already reviewed the CCTV that they were able to obtain to help identify the suspects, as he had dispatched his investigators to get statements from those who saw the incident.
The victims had just delivered their vegetable crops to the market in Carcar City and were about to return home when the crime happened.
Sucalit called on anyone who saw the incident to come to their office to help identify the suspects.
