DEU men undergo surprise drug test

Romeo D. Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Nearly 100 policemen assigned to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in 11 police stations of the Cebu City Police Office were subjected to surprise drug test Friday morning.

The Cebu City Forensic Unit initiated the drug test at the CCPO headquarters.

According to Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, CCPO director, the aim of the drug test is to remind the policemen assigned to the SDEU of their work, especially now that there are some policemen in Mambaling Police Station 11 who are involved in the controversy.

“Kinahanglan atong obligasyon nga i-remind sila nga dili nila buhaton nang mga daghan kaayong violations sa ilahang trabaho nga dili karapat-dapat,” said Dalogdog.

Dologdog said that under the CCPO’s internal cleansing program, personnel who test positive in the surprise drug test will automatically face an administrative case.

He said that in the past two months, at least two personnel are facing administrative cases after they have tested positive in the surprise drug test.

“Kaning mga police nga ma-involve sa drugs ilabi na kanang mag-apil-apil ana mag positive zero tolerance tayo diyan, wala tayong pinapalampas kelangan linisin ang hanay ng CCPO personnel,” said Dalogdog.

Meanwhile, Dalogdog warned the Drug Enforcement Units from Police Stations 1 to 11 to always ask clearance from the station commander when conducting operation especially against illegal drugs to avoid being charged.

“Ang atong mga tropa labi na dili mananghid mag boot-boot lang og trabaho every time kung naa moy operation mananghid mo sa inyong station commander para iwas problema, iwas kaso,” said Dalogdog.(CEBU NEWS)
