CEBU, Philippines —  No problems in the upland area concerning the extreme weather condition felt later had been recorded yet but medical emergencies are increasing in the lowland area of Cebu City.

This was disclosed by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Harold Alcontin along with City Agriculturist Joey Baclayon to the media.

“Kung naka feel tag init kaayo diri sa ubos, but so far didto sa taas wala…Regular, ordinary ang kainiton nabati sa bukid,” Baclayon said.

No decline of production was also noted but Baclayon said they are continuously monitoring the situation of farmers and their agricultural products while water supply is mostly from springs and deep wells.

“Decline of production? Walay report from farmer organization, in fact, we are happy to announce that nag organize silag farm tour didto sa bukid and exchange of ideas,” added Baclayon.

Baclayon also said they have been giving assistance to the farmers since late last year.

Alcontin also added that no requests yet have reached their office concerning water supply.

“So far sa bukid, Busay up..wala pa tay request, but the city is ready to deliver,” Alcontin said as the city is already in the “state of preparedness.”

In the lowland areas of Cebu City, however, medical emergencies have increased throughout the first five months including a fatality due to heat stroke which happens to be one of the city’s responders.

Alcontin said the said responder, already a senior and with comorbidity, died last March.

The said incident also led the CCDRRMO to limit their personnel’s direct exposure to the sun to avoid heat stroke. Alcontin also advised the rest of the Cebuanos to avoid going out under the scorching heat of the sun if it can be avoided.

In connection to this, however, Alcontin reminded everyone to have proper ventilation at home while also checking their applia(CEBU NEWS)nces and conserving energy when not needed as many transformers are also getting overloaded.
