Distribution of PWD financial aid set for March 30

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City government has announced Tuesday through the Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) that financial assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs) will be released tomorrow, March 30.

PWDs will receive a three-month assistance of up to P3,000 that covers the months of January, February and March at P1,000 each month.

PWDs are encouraged to coordinate with their barangay for the process of receiving their assistance.

"Madawat na sa atong mga kaigsuonan nga PWD ang ilahang financial assistance karong Huwebes, Marso 30, 2023. Giawhag atong mga qualified persons with disabilities (PWD) na pag coordinate sa ilahang barangay sa proseso sa pagpanghatag sa financial assistance," DSWS' advisory through Facebook post.

Recipients of financial aid are reminded to bring the original PWD I.D. during distribution.

The government has already said that this assistance is very useful for the needs of PWDs, especially those who have medicine maintenance.

Based on the list of PWDs in the DSWS office, the beneficiaries have reached nearly 13,000 in Cebu City.

Meanwhile, Josh Maglasang, a PWD, rejoiced when he heard that there is a scheduled distribution of their financial assistance.

"Dako gyud ang among pasalamat kay taod-taod na gyud ni nga gipaabot sa PWDs. Siyempre, naa man sad ta'y mga inadlaw nga panginahanglanon," Maglasang told The Freeman.

He said, like anyone else, he also has daily vitamin needs.

"Dako kaayo ni nga tabang sa pagpalit sa among tambal ug mga bitamina," he added. —
