New public market opens in Barangay Paril
CEBU, Philippines — Residents of Barangay Paril in Cebu City and other neighboring barangays could finally avoid traffic and inconvenience with the opening of a new public market in their area.
Before the opening of the said market, residents of Paril usually have to travel no less than 20 kilometers just to buy meat and vegetables, and other ingredients.
Aside from the burden of bigger fares, it’s also time-consuming and tiring to go to the main public market.
The construction of the said public market accordingly came from the congressional funds of Cebu City North District Representative Rachelle “Cutie” del Mar.
The opening of the said public market is indeed a welcome development for the locals as already have what they need, from fresh fish and meat to vegetables.
Paril barangay captain Nerissa Doncillo assured that prices of goods sold in their market are very affordable and prices will be regularly monitored.
“Sa mga vegetables, tanan naa na silay range og pila lang dapat. Dili sad sila pwede mag-overpricing. Ubos ra gyud ta, kay like sa mga vegetables diri man sa atoa gikan,” Doncillo said.
There are 35 stalls for the vendors of Paril as well to sell their goods, the city’s Public Information Office reported.
“Dako gyud kaayo namong pasalamat nga naa na mi diri’y merkado bitaw nga makatinda mi….Sa una, naninda ko diha sa may eskwelahan unya putos-putos ra bitaw nako. Wa jud koy pwesto ba. Karon nga naa nay merkado diri, dako gyud nakong kalipay,” said Vangie Codino.
Aside from those in Paril, the said market can also be easily accessed by those from Lusaran, Cambinocot, Guba, among others. — GMR (FREEMAN)
