Mandaue improves drainage system
CEBU, Philippines — Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes is hoping that the flooding problem at Rolling Hills along A.S. Fortuna Street will be finally solved soon as the drainage improvement project in the area is already underway.
Cortes explained that the city’s present drainage system especially in the area can no longer accommodate the volume of water that passes through the culvert during a heavy downpour that causes immediate flooding in the area.
Cortes through the city’s Public Information Office page showed pictures of the ongoing project.
Cortes also thanked all the private establishments for their cooperation and understanding in the implementation of the project.
Aside from that in A.S. Fortuna, other flood-prone areas in Mandaue City include M.C. Briones Street in Barangay Tipolo, A.C. Cortes Avenue, and Barangay Ibabao, among others.
Cortes also said that they would continue to find ways to solve the problem of flooding in the city.
Cortes earlier said that they would coordinate with the city government of Cebu in the implementation of flood-control projects as well as river cleanup drives. — GMR (FREEMAN)
