Malubog residents wantto pass through Garaje, Busay

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Malubog barangay captain Dennis Dabuco has appealed to the Cebu City government to allow them to pass through sitio Garaje in Barangay Busay instead of the diversion road provided.

Dabuco said such a diversion road is riskier and causes more discomfort to their residents during their travel to and from their respective residences in Malubog.

He made his appeal in behalf of the people living in Malubog during the survey conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) and Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau (MGB)-7 in Busay and Malubog, according to a report from the city’s Public Information Office.

“Mas lisud pa ang dalan, libaongon kaayo…Naa may hangyo sa mga tawo ba ilabina ron tingklase unya naay magdala baligyaon,” Dabuco said.

Dabuco hopes to get a favorable response from the city government as help to the residents who are also having difficulty making ends meet.

“Kahibawo baya ta ron mahal na kaayo atong krudo, gasoline mahal na, additional cost kaayo na sa atong mga tawo adto moagi (sa diversion) road kay layo-layo man sad siya, tuyok gyud,” added Dabuco.

Some roads are not passable and limited to light-weight vehicles only following the landslide in sitio Garaje in Busay recently.

The land and rock slides in some mountain barangays led Mayor Michael Rama to issue an executive order to address landslides. — GMR (FREEMAN)
