Security preparations for “Kalagkalag” net 23 loose firearms
CEBU, Philippines — At least 23 loose firearms have been seized by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-7 during their conduct of “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” as part of the security preparations for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
CIDG-7 chief Col. Peter Tagtag, Jr. said 19 of the firearms were turned over by barangay officials while four were results of operations against wanted persons and unregistered guns.
Tagtag said the series of operations from October 26 to October 31 netted nine wanted persons, including one of the most wanted in the region.
“Out of 23 na armas na ito or firearms yung apat dito ay result ng search warrant, may nahuli tayong isang tao dito sa search warrant na may dalawang baril then yung isa sa baril doon sa Bohol yun nung nag-serve po tayo ng warrant of arrest may baril siya,” Tagtag said.
Tagtag said that “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” was a component of their “Oplan Huli-Days” as part of the security preparations to ensure the peaceful observance of All Saints and Souls Days.
“Dalawa kasi ang effort ng PNP dito sa loose firearms ito yung unregistered may estimate po tayo dyan base po sa incident report po natin so ang kinakausap po natin dito ang mga Barangay officials natin kasi minsan doon nila sinu-surrender yung mga firearms then may mga kakila then na mga personnel natin doon sinu-surrender nila and then ang pangalawang approach Oplan Katok ito yung mga registered firearms kung hindi nila kayang i-register muli i-surrender nalang nila for safe keeping,” Tagtag said.— FPL (FREEMAN)
